Two student awards in one month!

Congratulations to PhD students Kaiyao Zhuang and Yuheng Wang for winning the “𝐀𝐈 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬” Award at the 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐈 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧! The inaugural competition, organised by the United Nations (UN) and United Nations University (UNU), challenged young innovators to use AI to tackle various environmental challenges. It was a tough competition, with only 12 international finalists selected to pitch their ideas in Macau. Their pitch was out of 130 submissions from 47 different countries. Their project, “𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐚: 𝐀𝐈 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧,” is an AI-powered system designed to support global deliberations on climate change.

Four weeks later, congratualtions to Master student Xie Jingyi for the 𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗧 – 𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗧 award at 𝘁𝗵𝗲** IPRS (Institute of Public Relations of Singapore) **𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗠 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱! She designed and co-convened the “Taste Tomorrow” workshop series, involving over 30 participants per session, where members of the public, scientists, chefs, and industry practitioners collaboratively designed communication strategies and food labeling systems.
